I emailed a video presentation, but when I click the link it takes me to the apple store page of the "Explain Everything" app.

The compressed movie should be attached to the email. The link within the email indeed goes to the App Store, because it's supposed to show the app, with which the email was created.
If there's no attachment, then probably your email service does not allow attachments of this size. Videos tend to be large. It is not too practical to email videos - it's better to upload them to YouTube (in that case you can send a YouTube link to the video). You can also upload them to Dropbox and then send the Dropbox link.
We are considering an automatic way of uploading the movie to Dropbox and sending the link - but for now, if you are using "Movie to Email" the movie will be sent as an attachment. I recommend to use "Movie to Dropbox" or "Movie to YouTube" instead.
