I am trying to use EE to create some educational tutorials, but I am having a few problems:
1. when stepping back from slide 2 back to 1, lots of unwanted scribbles/lines (coloured) appear on screen. These are not wanted and I'm wondering if they relate to the use of the erase and Undo tools i.e. are the erase lines picking up the pen tool instead of remaining invisible? This is very annoying and makes the efficient creation of teaching tutorials nonviable.
2. When I playback an export of a video that has a png image imported e.g. a protractor, the png image doesn't move/track properly i.e. instead of the protractor moving in time with the narration, it lags behind and only seems to snap into position when the next annotation/line is drawn by the presenter.
3. Exported movie didn't show the laser pen movements - again, this occurred when I was using a bg PNG image.
Hope someone can help me resolve these issues.

The next EE update that is coming up next week should solve the issue no. 1.
Please note, that some of the problems with "undo" and "delete" are due to the way that recording works - currently we do not retroactively delete things, that you recorded before - only the current state of this object. Therefore, if you record a drawing or an object, and then you pause and delete them, the recorded drawing will still be shown in playback (there is no frame-by-frame rewind function yet to correct such issues). If you want to erase something while recording, you should also record the process of erasing.
For the problem no.2 and 3 - could you please send us the .XPL project that shows this issue? If it's a large file - please send a dropbox link to support@morriscooke.com.
Explain Everything is quite an open tool - you can do many things in different ways - and sometimes we are having trouble replicating the problems if we don't know exactly how they look like - this is why we need your project file :-)

Thanks for your prompt reply. I look forward to the update.
I will send you a link to the project file in Dropbox shortly.
Thanks.

OK, all the reported problems will be fixed by the next 1.40 update.
Besides, the update contains two new cool features - annotation over a web browser (embedded Safari) together with recording, and a rectangular photo crop tool.
Stay tuned!

I don't know if the following is connected with the above problems but I thought it is worth mentioning. If I add shapes to a slide and resize them to make them larger and then switch to another slide, when I return to the slide with the shapes I find that the shapes have reverted back to their initial small size.

Thank you for reporting this! We will fix this problem in the next update.
Please note that it concerns only shapes on slides, where there's no recording. Changes to shapes made during recording are OK.
